The Nelson project involved the replacement of a series of terraced brick retaining walls that had reached the end of their service life.
The original design specified two block retaining walls stepped back from each other. However, to achieve greater structural strength and a more streamlined aesthetic, Terrain Tech proposed a screed-finished shotcrete wall instead.
This adjustment not only provided a stronger and more durable structure using 30 MPa shotcrete, but also sped up construction significantly, as the entire wall could be completed in a single continuous pour eliminating cold joints and improving both the structural integrity and the finish quality.
